Common Benign Lesions

Benign conditions are common!


• Only one third of symptomatic clinic patients will have pathological investigation
• > 90% of patients attending a symptomatic breast clinic do not have cancer
• For every one malignant FNA/core biopsy there will be two benigns
• For every malignant excision there will be one benign excision
• Even when the molecular revolution has run its course pathologists will still be needed to diagnose benign conditions!!!

Benign lesions
